Sunday Update--Thurs-Sunday

Thurs. June 23

Thursday was not a good day overall.

Frankie was going to be dropping off the hospital bed for us to use as a guest bed for a while & so that meant that the office/storage HEAP had to get cleaned!

I worked on it for about 25 minutes at a time, resting for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour in between working sessions.

It was hard work.

I took a nap with Luke & still knew it was too much, but I pushed on.

The afternoon got worse when I was hit with STABBING, agonizing, cramps/contractions at about 4:30.  I couldn't move.

I pretty much did nothing until Tim got home around 7 and then I soaked in the bath tub for a LONG time until the cramping let up.

I went to bed straightaway after that.

Friday June 24

I used Friday to recover from Thursday's over-work.  I did the normal housework but not anything major.
In the afternoon I went to PetSmart to get dog food & Target to get dish soap.

Tim cooked dinner & we had an early night.

Saturday June 25

We had a great day, in my opinion Saturday.  We got up early thanks to Lucas, and pretty much got busy.  Tim was working before 8 and I was working by 9.

Tim got the lawnmower fixed up (annual tune-up), cut the grass, and swept the patio.  He also went to the grocery store and  I gave him a haircut.

Luke cut a new tooth!

I took care of Luke & the "normal" housework.  Then Tim cleaned the kitchen and bathroom & rid them of all the evidence of the last 6 months!  Woot!  I took Luke to Food Lion & did some grocery shopping.

We tag teamed the sweeping & vacuuming and finished everything up (we even dusted!) JUST before 4:30 when James, Missy, and Trevor came over.

They brought #2 a super cute 3 pack of Monster's Inc themed onesies!

We visited while Tim grilled the chicken, had a great dinner, and then visited some more!  It was a good night!

After they headed home we started getting ready for bed & Luke was asleep before we normally begin his night-time routine!

Sunday June 26

So far today is stil up in the air.  I'm exhausted from being up all night with either Tim or Luke...so we might do nothing!

So far, I've:

folded laundry
washed laundry
put away diapers
washed & dried wool & laid it out
and we're getting ready to eat & then shower & nap

AND just to edit to add the rest of our day:

Luke fell alseep, I showered & then Tim laid down with Luke too!

I took advantage of their napping, to head to Chesapeake Square Mall to shop!  I made it through Burlington Coat Factory, Target, Chilren's Place, Gymboree, J.C. Penny, Auntie Anne's, and Motherhood Maternity, with purchases along the way of various clothing for us to wear to Loren & Heather's second wedding this weekend.

I got Luke this onesie for less than $3 at J.C. Penny!
And I got him this vest for $6.99.
I'm putting those 2 pieces together with blue slacks, white socks & shoes and I think he'll look quite darling for the ceremony!

I also snagged this shirt off a clearance rack for Luke!

Tim will be wearing a tux since he is in the wedding, but I took advantage of the BOGO 50% off sale on socks to get him 6 pairs of bamboo socks.

And, I'm returning everything I bought for myself, so I guess there's no need to mention it!

I got home around 5 and we did a fashion show with all the stuff I bought before heading out again.

We ran to Best Buy so Tim could get a tuner thing-a-ma-bob for his iPod, then to Target to return my stuff, then to Fazoli's for dinner.

After dinner we did a drive-by at the ATM and headed home!

Sewing

I love, love, love, love, love, love to sew!  It is so nice to take an idea, cut it out of fabric (often recycled) and turn it into something my little man can wear or use!

So, Tuesday I managed to get to my sewing stuff & sort it out & organize it during nap time.  Then, when Tim got home I managed to sew two pairs of pants, from a recycled wool sweater...one for each boy!!

They aren't "wonky", I just tossed them on the floor & snapped the picture.  They actually lay flat & are totally adorable.  I also didn't take an "action" shot of Luke, since I made his a couple inches too long, planning to finalize the hem in the fall when he starts wearing them.

I didn't do much of anything else Tuesday besides cleaning house.

Wednesday morning I attempted to go meet up with a diaperswappers mama who is new in the area.  We're working out a trade (she's going to knit a cocoon & hat for #2 & I'm going to sew diapers/soakers for her 1 year old) and were going to meet at the yarn store.  BUT, she got lost & didn't make it. :(

Luke & I grabbed McDonald's and then went to the bank before driving home.

While Luke slept I worked on a pair of shorts for him.  He actually woke up before I got them sewn together, but I had to draft a completely new pattern (with side seams instead of crotch seams) so it was a lot of work.

While he played I got them sewn up & then tried on him.  I think they are adorable, even if he didn't have a t-shirt to match yesterday.  (They are in the wash.)

They are made from fleece which works as a diaper cover, so that's nice.  I love the long leg shorts style!  It makes him look tall & protects his knees from the MANY times he falls down while playing outside!

After I finished sewing I got to work on the housework.  We just ate soup out of the pantry for dinner and then cleaned up.

Tim bathed Luke while I ran out to Dunkin Donuts & Farm Fresh.  I love the little trips out by myself.  I can open the windows & turn the music up & I get to drive MY Corolla.

By the time I got home, we had about 30 minutes to eat dessert & relax before getting ready for bed. :)

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to my handsome husband & my awesome dad!

The card I made for Tim was a big hit.  I wish Luke was more into coloring, but he just isn't, so the few scribbles we got were it.  Everybody still loved it!

Dad & Uncle Bill grilled 2 different kinds of chicken.

Mom made corn on the cob, baked potatoes, and baked beans.  I think everybody ate really well!

After dinner, we had strawberry shortcakes & pound cake.  Luke LOVES eating pound cake with his Pap.

Later on, we headed outside.  The babies played bubbles, the big girls made S'Mores, Dad & Uncle Bill worked in the garden.  I ate 2 S'Mores. Yummy!  Luke ate a handful of  marshmallows!

After we tired out of S'Mores, we slowly wandered in the house.  Luke got cranky fast & we got him a bath & headed home.  He actually stayed awake until we got on the highway around 8:45, which was amazing.

All in all, I think it was a great Father's Day!

Wordless Wednesday!!

So, we finally decided on #2's coming home outfit/ensemble!

The "outfit" will be this adorable "Rhino Romper" from Monkey Toe Designs on Etsy.

We're getting it made in these custom colors! Cascade 220 Heathers 2437, Cascade 220 7816 & 8010.  I love them together!  It is very "sock monkey" and "baby boy" to me!

The outfit will be made perfect with custom Tessa Ann buttons, similar to this set.  Ours will have two of the "face" buttons & 3 of the brown buttons.  (2 of them will be going on the loafers)

Peggy will be adding this crocheted blanket to the mix, with natural as the main body, the brown/tan as the mouth & hat, and blue for the accents on the hat.   We're going to leave the little "hands" off.

I've also asked Peggy to make this little stuffed sock monkey doll.  He'll have a blue hat tassel.   I'm researching how to add a scent & some kind of noise maker to him as well.

Mom is going to add to the outfit, by crocheting this adorable hat!  He'll have blue accents on his hat & on the tassles, with tan as the main color and natural as the detail colorwork.

Finally, Mom will crochet these adorable loafers, to just add the perfect final touch to the outfit!

She's actually going to make several pairs, three of which will match his coming home outfit!  (Tan w/ blue, Natural w/ blue, and Natural w/ Tan)

A good friend of mine from Diaperswappers is going to embroider some bamboo panels for me to add to my preemie prefolds, using these (and other) designs.

I'm also bidding on these cute baby legs from Ebay.

And, finally, this little t-shirt for Luke from E-bay.

That shirt won't match, but Luke has these shorties that will match the baby's coming home outfit pretty well.

Pregnancy Update

I seriously do not want to get pregnant ever again.  As much as I'd love my own daughter, I cannot do this again.

Last night, when I took off the "belly squisher" I started having regular contractions again & was in quite a bit of pain.  (Felt like I'd been working out & was sore.)  Also the pain in my ribs was more intense. :(

Then, about 2 hours later when I got into bed, the baby was going nuts.  My entire belly was rolling & shaking and was sore.  It felt like 3 or 4 babies in there, not just one!  Tim and I both put our hands on my stomach & we were feeling strong jabs & kicks and lots of tightening & rolling.  It was not pleasant & lasted about 40 minutes.

Then it seemed to settle down & I was able to sleep.

My belly felt achy all night, I did not sleep well.

This morning, since 7:40 am, I wasn't really feeling the baby at all.  I felt a few "movements" but not his normal kicking & jabbing close to 10:00 and at 10:40 decided to call in to the doctor.

Since then, I felt 3 kicks & 2 movements in 30 minutes, then had a contraction.  Since 11:20, I've felt 2 more movements.

It is so nerve-racking to not know what is going on in there.  I am 29 weeks and 5 days, so it is way too early for him to be born!

I just ate a bowl of cereal & drank a glass of soda so I'm hoping maybe it had something to do with being hungry.

The doc is taking an extra long time to call back too....

ETA: The doc called back.  She says most likely last nights acrobatics were a result of the freed up space & he might have changed positions.  She said if that's the case then his movements will feel different to me today.  I have felt a few more kicks in the last 1/2 hour too...since drinking a soda & eating.

June 3 Fri.
Lunch at Red Lobster w/ Mom, Dad, and Frankie
Wal-Mart trip w/ Tim--lots of heavy contractions

Where Tim spent a good portion of Memorial Day afternoon!
June 4 Sat.
We took it pretty easy so that I wouldn't have a ton of contractions.

June 5-Sunday
Lucas woke up early, so he & I actually made it to church with Tim.
Unfortunately, I had LOTS of contractions during the service and then they continued all day.

Any little thing, even walking from the living room to the bedroom made me start having more of the painful contractions, so at bed time I finally decided it was time to go to the hospital for monitoring.

It was after 9 before we left the house, so Tim stayed in the car with the sleeping baby while I went up to L&D.  The nurses were super sweet and I got into a room pretty quickly.  Once I was in the room it wasn't long before I had my cervix checked (dilated to one fingertip, no change in length, and nice & firm) and my fetal fibronectin test done. I also got hooked up to the monitors.

While I was monitored (and awaiting the test results) I watched "Flashpoint" (my new favorite show) on Netflix on my iPad and texted with Tim.

The fFN came back negative, which is a good thing (it means that with 99% accuracy I will NOT go into labor within 10 days), and they were able to discharge me with orders to be on bed rest.

Apparently, what I thought was the baby kicking the crap out of me with all his tossing & turning was actually REGULAR consistent contractions, every 15 minutes. :(

Technically, I am in "threatened pre-term labor" and on "modified bed rest" which means if the contractions start conditioning my uterus/cervix then I'll be in PTL and the only things I should be out of bed for are to meet my own personal needs (eat & potty) or to meet Luke's needs.

June 6- Mon.
So, Monday was my first day of 'bed rest'.  Beth came over around lunch time to help out with Luke.  I got myself all worried about the different symptoms I was having & didn't feel good at all.

I was still having regular contractions as well as painful ones.  Finally around 12:45, I got a doctor's appointment scheduled & started getting ready to go see Dr. Morgan.  I had to pick Aaron up from school & take him with me.

Dr. Appointment @ 2:00--Dr. Morgan checked my belly and noticed a lot of tenderness near my ribs.  Fortunately he didn't check my cervix again (thank goodness!) and he decided to do a full liver panel and blood work to make sure that there wasn't any pre-eclampsia or HELLP Syndrome going on.

Nap time in our bed-rest perch!
June 7- Tues
29 Weeks Pregnant
Tuesday, Tim stayed home from work sick. :(  He had been up during the night puking & felt yucky, but otherwise just had regular cold symptoms.  We had a pretty slow/lazy day until it was time to pick Aaron up.

Frankie came over, with Mom & Dad's old kitchen table for us.  :)  Then Tim, Aaron, and Frankie packed all of Luke's toys into trash bags and all of our groceries into re-usable bags & put the food in the car.

Ewell's Pest Control showed up around 2:40 to do our front & back yards & the house.  We are hoping that having this done will keep Luke from getting eaten alive when he plays outside now!  We didn't actually have any pests in the house, but the difference in price was about $30 so we figured why not!

We had to load the birds and dogs up too, so it was quite the chore.

When we left at 3:30, we went to Wal-Mart so Frankie could get some groceries at a discount.  (Gotta love having family that works there!)

After Frankie finished there we headed to Virginia Beach, we got Luke some Chic-Fil-A and went to Tom & Peggy's house.  Tim & his Dad went to Alpha Music to get some sound stuff for church & I hung out on the couch at their house.

Then we left Luke with his grandparents while we went to Applebee's for dinner.  We got the "Two for $20" deal, so it was a good, cheap dinner with an appetizer!  Afterwards we went to Wal-Mart & even though I rode in the electric wheelchair, I still had a ton of painful contractions!

We went back and picked Luke up & got him ready for bed before heading home.

When we got home (with just the dogs in tow, the birds had to stay away 24 hours) we had a lot of work to do before we could even go to sleep!  But, such is life!

29 Weeks Pregnant--Finally starting to show!
June 8- Weds.
Wednesday is our lazy day.  I didn't eve shower or get "dressed" beyond house clothes!  We don't have Aaron on Wednesday, so there was no need for me to leave the house at all.

I did get up bright & early and walk 4 hours down the street (with contractions the whole way) to get my package from the neighbor's house.  The little old man who opened the door was quite embarrassed to have opened my maternity tank top!

I managed to get most of the bags unpacked from the day before's adventures before Tim got home.

Tim came home from work sick, so we had a lazy day, including a 3 hour nap for Luke!

The counter top guy came around 4:00 and measured the kitchen out....so by next Friday we will have new counters!

We had Subway for dinner.

June 9-Thurs
We didn't do much of anything on Thursday, I took it easy and didn't even vacuum the house.  I did pick Aaron up from school & go to the Post Office & the Library.

Still having "regular" contractions & the intense ones with activity.

When Tim got home, he took care of Lucas and cooked us a dinner of fish sticks, french fries, chicken tenders, and, bourbon chicken...all frozen...but still food for our bellies.

June 10- Friday
I am determined to finish & post this today.

Luke slept in until 8:10...that was nice.  I haven't been having "regular" contractions today! AMEN!  I did have some stronger ones when I ran the vacuum but I went out to McDonald's & then out to pick Aaron up & didn't have contractions from either of those short trips.

I managed to get the house picked up some and work on Tim's Father's Day card today.  Not much else, since I'm supposed to be on bed rest and all!
