Quickie!

Just wanted to say we're alive & well.  I have had zip-zero-nada time for blogging & I still don't!  There's too much going on!

I have big plans for posts about Luke's birthday, his 2nd tooth & other developments, feeding a picky eater, and more....just no time to write them!

I am also still feeling out the waters to do some giveaways & reviews but I want to have all my ducks in a row before I start that & clearly right now I don't!

Anyway, if you need me, you know where to find me!

Wordless Wednesday!! BEFORE

This is what we were left with, when Chrissy moved all of her stuff out.  I'll be back with AFTER pictures when I get the room finished!

Colorado!

Wednesday July 28, 2010
Melanie picked us up at the wee hours of the morning & dropped us off at the airport.  We had to wait about 5 minutes before things got moving at the airlines check-in counter.  We got our bags checked (with the un-needed assistance of a sky-hop who actually ASKED for a tip) and our tickets printed.

We still had 4 carry-ons though, Luke's "diaper bag" book bag, my breast pump in the grocery bag, Tim's laptop & all of our electronics (in the case) and a bunch of other stuff in the suit case!

We hung out and waited for Tom to arrive for his flight (which left 30 minutes after ours).  When he did, we asked him to take our suitcase carry-on, so that we had a slightly lighter load.
Luke woke up around 3:30ish and we let him play on the floor.

Before we took off it was dark out and Luke enjoyed looking out the windows.

Luke did really well & slept through almost all of the first flight.  He woke up after about 45 minutes and watched out the window as we landed.
The second flight wasn't as good!  Luke wouldn't go to sleep, so I ended up playing with him.  He also had several stinky diapers so I got to change him in the TINY bathroom 3 times!  (I don't trust sposies to hold anything in, so we changed him as often as possible.  We used sposies on both of our days of travel.)
About 1/2 way through the flight Luke got really rotten & arched his back, spilling my entire cup of Coke in Tim's lap!  That was a rude awakening for Tim!
After that (and getting Tim cleaned up) I was finally able to get him to nurse and he fell asleep.  I leaned over onto Tim & we all slept through the end of the flight.

Grandma Goetsch picked us up & we went out to the car to see Grandpa Goetsch.  He was so tickled to meet Luke.

We drove around for a bit while we waited on Tom's flight to arrive.  After we picked him up, we went to Burger King for some lunch.  Then we went to Wal-Mart to get some of the special dairy free-soy free things I needed.  Then we went to PetSmart, so Grandma could run in and get dog food.

When we finally got to Leadville (around 4 in the afternoon) we were exhausted, but there was no time for that!  Tim's cousin Tiffany was there with her children "Little Richard" and Brittany (I think).

We were having a steak birthday dinner for Grandpa.  We ate on rocks!  It was pretty yummy!

Thursday July 29, 2010
Happy 18th Birthday Frankie!!

I don't have a lot of pictures from Thursday.  We took a driving tour of Leadville with Grandma & Grandpa.  We also went grocery shopping.

In the evening we drove Tom to Silverthorne to meet up with Peggy.  We spent a little bit of time visiting with all of the family there.  Everybody was tickled with Sir Lucas!

Friday July 30, 2010

Starting Friday, Luke got his baths at Grandma's house in the kitchen sink.  He enjoyed it!

(obligatory tushie shot for Melanie!)

Around 10 am, we headed out with Grandma to see Tennessee Pass.  This is where Grandma grew up and met Grandpa.  Tom's older siblings were also born while Grandma & Grandpa lived here.  Grandma says this is where they were "the happiest of our lives".   It was a very sentimental place.  We got some decent pictures, but I wish we had more time to get better ones!

Look at all those blue skies!

about 5 seconds later we realized there were red ants EVERYWHERE!

Tim switched the tracks!

After our visit to Tennessee Pass we headed home to have "rainbow sandwiches".  They are ham & pickle sandwiches.  I passed on that & had some lunch meat instead.  Tim said they were really good though.

In the afternoon we all loaded into the big pick-up truck and headed out on a mystery drive.  Our destination was to drive up the mountain so we could see Turquoise Lake from a distance...I'm not sure we ever made it there!

We ended up on a trail....dirt road....that Grandpa swore he'd never driven before & Grandma swore they had!

We saw beaver ponds.

And cliffs...

and a whole lot of wide open space!

Ugh, others news from Friday is I had my first cycle since Luke was born.  Yuck, totally unexpected..but not completely unprepared.

Saturday July 31, 2010

We spent Saturday at Grandma & Grandpa Goetsch's house.  We had a 2nd Family Birthday Celebration for Grandpa's 83rd birthday.  Tom & Peggy came up from Silverthorne & Auntie Linda drove up from her house.  We had tacos and ate outside on the picnic table Uncle Kenny built.
Luke had sweet potatoes & snap pea puffs, but he didn't eat much, there was too much to see & do!

All tuckered out--he just fell asleep in his Grandma Peggy's arms!
Uncle Kenny fell asleep too!

Sunday Aug. 1, 2010

In the morning the family all went to church at Grandma & Grandpa's church.  Luke and I stayed home.  He hadn't been sleeping well & I wasn't going to wake him up early for church.

When the got home, we went to Tom & Peggy's 30th Reunion Picnic so they could show Tim & Luke off.  It was about as fun as Tim & I expected it to be and we didn't stay very long because it started to rain.

Then we drove to Silverthorne to Aunt Judy's house.  She was having a HUGE family picnic (in the rain) at her place.  There were lots of family there I'd never met and wasn't really formally introduced to, so don't ask who all we saw!  We did get to spend lots of time with cousins Jen & Kim and their children, so that was super nice!

Chloe (Jen's daughter, 21 months) and Luke sharing.

Monday Aug. 2, 2010

On Monday, we got up and had breakfast with Aunt Judy and family.  Kim dropped Cody (6ish?) off and Jen came over with Chloe.  We all got ready to go and drove up to Breckenridge after lunch to go to the Country Boy Gold Mine.  We did a nice tour there and panned for gold.

It was only 42* in the mine!

A rare family picture!  Luke is asleep in the mei tai!

Tuesday Aug. 3, 2010

We got up on Tuesday and packed ourselves up to head back to Leadville.  We took some pictures with the family before we left.

In the afternoon Grandma Goetsch took us for a drive over Independence Pass.

Wednesday Aug. 4, 2010
Wednesday was our last day in Leadville.  We had to get up early in order to head to the airport.  We took pictures with the family there too.

We got to the airport pretty much just in time!  We got all checked in, went through security, and grabbed to-go pizzas (cheese-less for me), and then boarded the plane! I had to eat my pizza on the runway!

Luke slept through the entire first flight & most of the 2nd flight.  He did really well & everyone said what a good baby he was!

When we got home around 7:30, Melanie picked us up & took us home!  We were so glad to be home!

We unloaded, played with the dogs for a few minutes and then headed out to TGI Fridays for our anniversary dinner.  I got the Jack Daniel's Chicken, Tim got the steak.  We also got a Reeses Peanut Butter Pie dessert!  Luke spilled another drink on Tim!

I hope you enjoyed the pictures from our vacation as much as we enjoyed our vacation!!
